October 29th is National Cat Day!

Let's paws for a moment and take in 13 reasons you love to hate your darling feline.

1. You can buy all the scratching posts in the pet store but your cat won't necessarily use it as its nail filer of choice. Box springs, rugs, fabric furniture all serve as things for them to nail.

2. Your cat knows when you are feeling under the weather and will stay by your side throughout the duration of a cold, flu or bad breakup.

3. Cats are territorial. They may frighten your friends. They may hiss at the pizza delivery person. They may take a swat at the dog of the house.

4. They purr when you pet them and it makes you feel needed, wanted, loved. Ah, contentment.

Before, After, During and WAY After

Thanks to EVERYONE for all your Birthday Wishes and gifts!

A very special Thanks to my daughter Michaela who made my 53rd Birthday a Great Day!

One of the presents I received was a new hair do!  I cut off ALL my hair!  But that's not all, I won a make over from Today's Woman Now (http://www.todayswomannow.com/); a local women's magazine.  I will be one of several other winners featured in their September 2013 edition.  I'll be keeping you posted!  For Sure!  For Sure!

I'm not ashamed to say that I am very happy to be in the 50+ crowd.  Hells Bells!  I'm just damn happy to have have made it past 30!!!!

Nothing like waking up each morning ALIVE!

Like all years before, I did a mini life review.  Looking back on all I did, all that I wish I hadn't done, all that I wish I could have done, but didn't.  All those things I wish I took the time to say, but didn't.  All the things I did say and wished I hadn't.  And so on.

Not too many regrets really. Just a bitter-sweet remembrance of a year that came and passed too quickly.

Interestingly enough, there was a blast from my past.  I don't know how it all come about.  Maybe it was some crazed curiosity, twisted nostalgia or insane need for self torture that brought it all about.  Sufficient to say, I decided to check out some of the people who have come and gone from my life over the last few years.

In all honesty, I was a bit disappointed in what I found.     Not sure why.   We didn't part friends.  In fact, there's one that I still consider my nemesis.    With that said,   You would think I would have rejoiced knowing they hadn't gotten any further than the last time I had seen them.   But I found it rather sad really.  There is one thing, however, that even now, after all these years, I still have a small measure of respect for any man or woman pushing waaaaay past 40 and still living with their mother!      I truly believe that accounts for something.    *LOLOLOLOL*

This trip down memory lane was a wake up call for me personally.  While I have had some successes along the way, I need to really kick it into the next gear.  Which is why I believe I won the make-over contest.    This was the Universe's way of giving me the green light!

Like I stated up above.  I will be keeping you posted on the events and will let you know when the issue is out!

Until then...

Live, Laugh and Love more than you did yesterday and as if there's no Tomorrow!

When a Community Cares: The Happy Story of Molly and Whitey

So have you ever wondered if there are ANY good people out there? And what about karma? Is there such a thing?   Read on!

Ok. First, here is Molly’s story. It starts out sad . . . Molly’s owner takes her to the Kentucky Humane Society SNIP clinic to be spayed. He lives near the clinic and knows she needs it! Sadly, he opens her carrier in the parking lot at the clinic to comfort her and scared Molly dashes out into the busy street. A truck drives over the top of her and rolls her and she runs away. Poor Molly!

Now, here is Whitey’s story. A kind gentleman named Victor, who lives around the corner from the SNIP clinic, adopted a couple of Kentucky Humane Society Working Cat Program cats and set them up on his carport, providing food, water, and shelter for them. Over time, a new community cat arrives to eat and share their space. “Whitey,” as he calls her (she is white with black spots, after all!), needs to be spayed, so Victor contacts Alley Cat Advocates, borrows a trap, and takes Whitey to her appointment at the SNIP clinic. All is well. Lucky Whitey!

And here is where it gets fun! Can you guess the rest? Four months after Molly’s unfortunate escape in the parking lot, a neighbor walks by Victor’s house and sees Whitey under the carport. He remembers a flyer that he’s had on his refrigerator for months(!) about a cat named Molly. He thinks it might be the same cat! And, yes, a quick call to the phone number on the flyer results in the happy reunion! Four months later!!! So, kudos to Molly’s owner for putting up flyers and never giving up. Kudos to kind Victor for feeding the new community cat AND for getting her spayed (despite her wishes, apparently), and kudos to the community for caring enough to help these beautiful creatures each and every day!
