Valuable Life Lessons

I would like to share with you the lessons by a 90 year old man:) Feel free to spread this around with your friends and family.

1. Life isn’t fair, but it’s still good.
2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.
3. Life is too short not to enjoy it.
4. Your job won’t take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and family will.
5. Don’t buy stuff you don’t need.
6. You don’t have to win every argument. Stay true to yourself.
7. Cry with someone. It’s more healing than crying alone.
8. It’s OK to get angry with God. He can take it.
9. Save for things that matter.
10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won’t screw up the present.
12. It’s OK to let your children see you cry.
13. Don’t compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn’t be in it.
15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye… But don’t worry; God never blinks.
16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.
17. Get rid of anything that isn’t useful.  Clutter weighs you down in many ways.
18. Whatever doesn’t kill you really does make you stronger.
19. It’s never too late to be happy.  But it’s all up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don’t take no for an answer.
21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don’t save it for a special occasion. Today is special.
22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don’t wait for old age to wear purple.
24. The most important sex organ is the brain.
25. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.
26. Frame every so-called disaster with these words, ‘In five years, will this matter?’
27. Always choose Life.
28. Forgive but don’t forget.
29. What other people think of you is none of your business.
30. Time heals almost everything. Give Time time.
31. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
32. Don’t take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
33. Believe in miracles.
34. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn’t do.
35. Don’t audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.
36. Growing old beats the alternative — dying young.
37. Your children get only one childhood.
38. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.
39. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.
40. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else’s, we’d
grab ours back.
41. Envy is a waste of time. Accept what you already have, not what you think you need.
42. The best is yet to come…
43. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
44. Yield.
45. Life isn’t tied with a bow, but it’s still a gift.

Dreaming Dreams I Dream When I Dreamt And Why I'll Never Let My Dead Mother Drive Me Anywhere Again!

Okay so all my friends know I have these really outrageous dreams.  Very lucid!  Very odd and Very real outrageous dreams.    Salvador Dali wishes he had dreams like mine!  *LOL*

But all kidding aside though, my most recent dreams were of me travelling with my mother (deceased by the way) in our old 1973 Chevy Impala.  Burgundy with a white vinyl top.  Still looking brand spanking new.   (see picture below)

At first I didn't recall any of the events that led up to me being in the car with my mother.  It wasn't until I put myself into a deep meditation that  I remembered anything said other than me screaming WATCH OUT!  What is up with all these damn dead squirrels???!

Naturally, before meditating  I went on line in search of some sort of interpretation. I looked hi & lo for something--anything that would help me make sense of this new addition of odd dreams and give me a starting point.   Normally I'm really good with dream divination,  but I was having issues solving this one.    Guessing it was because I was so freaked out about the dead squirrels.   It was sick and disgusting!     At any rate,  after doing some in-depth research and meditating on the matter, the answer finally came.

My mother never liked me.   In fact, she despised me.  I know this because she told me so on numerous occasions.  I was too much like her mother and my father--two people she hated the most.  The very same two people she believed responsible for her misery.

You see, Mother was never one to take responsibility for her self, her actions, words, and deeds.  Ever!  Somebody else was always to blame.       And that somebody usually was me!

During meditation, I allowed the entire dream sequence unfold in my waking state; it was then I began remembering it was my mother who had been running down the squirrels!  I'll spare you the gory details.  But trust me when I say... YECCCHHH!!!!!

It wasn't until after further contemplation of the dream that it occurred to me that mother was actually trying to warn me of something.

Common Definition of Squirrels in your Dreams:

To see a squirrel in your dream indicates that you are involved in a loveless, pointless relationship or an unprofitable business project. You are pursuing empty and fruitless endeavors. Alternatively, seeing a squirrel in your dream suggests that you are hoarding something. You are holding on to too much and need to learn to let go. On the other hand, a squirrel means that you need to reserve your time and energy.

To dream that you are trying to run over squirrels with a lawn mower suggest that you are trying to change your beliefs and alter your ideas in order to conform to others. You are looking for some form of acceptance.

My mother really lived this interpretation.     During the course of her long life, she was involved in numerous loveless and pointless relationships; as well as unprofitable business projects.  She was a hoarder on many levels.    She never learned to just let go!  Of anything!!!

Running over all those squirrels was her way of telling me stop trying to change who I am and what I believe  all in order to conform to others!  No one is ever accepted 100%.  So get over it and just be your Self!    hmm! This coming from a woman who never accepted me.  But the whole message rang so true and so loud I couldn't ignore it.    In fact, now that I've written it all down, I feel better--relieved--content.  Somehow whole!

    *~*~*~*

Being a passenger in the car usually denotes someone else controlling your life.   In this case, it was mother's way of "driving her point across."

And too, with respect to the type of car she drove--well in life,  that was her pride and joy.  Mother really loved that damn car!  She really did!  Buying that car, driving that car...well let's just say it was one of the very few times I saw my mother sincerely and genuinely happy.   So it was only logical she show up driving that puppy!

In either event, I've made a solemn promise to myself that from this point forward, I'll just  do what I do during my awakened state--I'll either walk, call a cab, ride a bike or take the bus if I need to get anywhere in my dreams!!

Excerpt from The ZEN of Duct Tape:  An Empress Is Born!

    *~*~*~*~*

SPECIAL NOTE FROM JULIA:    The best, and no doubt the most accurate, interpretation of your dreams comes from doing it your self.  Taking the time to reflect, ponder and analyze not just the dream itself, but the feelings it brings, the events in your awakened state that transpired and/or are transpiring, etc.   All this lends to the truth behind your dreams.

Yea, checking out the definitions are fun and entertaining.  But if you want a deeper meaning, you'll need to dig a little deeper and go the extra mile to uncover what it all really means for you!

    Until Next Time...

Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me
