Queer Eye Love Project

Netflix reboot of Queer Eye for the Straight Guy has everybody watching in tears.  Tears of Joy!  If you haven't watched it yet -- I'm going to pass on a word of advice -- something Netflix didn't bother passing along to me or the millions of others who fist partook --make damn sure you have a full box of hankies next to you!    Seriously!  Netflix should have a some kind of warning before each episode!  Hankie Alert!  Only watch if you have a box of Kleenex!  Or something along those lines!  

I never watched the original.  Oh I knew about it, one of my sons (who is gay) watched it religiously.   I was neither interested nor  really had the time.  Being a single working mother left me little energy or interest during those days.  I was, however,  over the top pleased that my gay son had something to watch that he could relate to and learn from.  

Now before I go any further, and for those of you who don't know me, I am one of these people who don't give a rat's ass if you're gay, straight, black, white, yellow or green. Male or female. Fat, skinny or somewhere in between.  You are what you are and I accept you as is.  And if you're any of those before mentioned individuals who suddenly find yourself presented with a show that reflects your beliefs, life style whatever ... I am happy for you.    But that's as far as it goes for me personally.  You see,  I never comprehended the HUGE deal over being gay, black, brown, female or whatever anyways.  Still don't!   All I see is PEOPLE!  People with various likes and dislikes shapes, forms, sizes, colors.  So it was (and still is) difficult for me to wrap my head around what a deal it was, is and continues to be.   It's like flowers.  You got all these different colors of flowers.  They're still flowers no matter what color they are.  People - flowers - same diff to me!  You are what you are and that makes for a gorgeous garden!

Anyways .... moving along here ... 

So when  Queer Eye reboot hit Netflix I thought well there ain't nothing else on might as well give it a shot!   I wasn't prepared for the impact it would have on me.  I later found out on the QE Face Book page that I wasn't the only one.  And this got me to thinking about the original.   So I hunted down free full episodes on line and watched them.   Yes, the originals lived up to their TV show moniker The Fab Five, but they just didn't quite pluck the old heartstrings like their present day counter-parts.   What was different?  What was it that set these guys apart?  And then it dawned on me!

The Epiphany

The new Fab Five is the confirmation of all that hard work for acceptance, compassion, empathy and understanding of those different from ourselves is finally paying off!   It is reassurance that we haven't been spinning our wheels!  It is happening, unfolding and working!  

All those of like mind, as a whole,  have been confirmed and affirmed that these attributes are alive and well!  The human race actually has a chance for redemption.  All is not lost as some would believe!   Yessssss QUEEN!

Those of us watching these five fabulous A.F. young men,  see the fruit of our collective energies working through them, manifesting and expanding.   We  know this in our hearts.  Our tears of joy is our soul's applause for a job well done! 
These beautiful souls, these magnificent beings of light are living proof of that!

I now understand that the original Fab Five were the awesome heralds of what was coming!  They were the torch bearers of a brilliant light that opened the way.  (Little did any of us know how bright that light would become!)  We all will be forever grateful to them.   

Who would have thought that five Queens could bring out so much in one Empress?!! 

I know it all goes much deeper than what I have shared with you here.  But this Empress will leave that for another time!  At least for the time being.

My heart overflows with so much love and gratitude for these young men! The world and my life is so much richer knowing they are here working that love thang.  And I thank ALL who had a hand in bringing them into our lives!

Stages of The Awakening Process: Part 3

Your awakening process parallels your physical stages of life and all that goes along with it. 

• Conception
• Gestation
• Birth
• Infant - Toddler
• Young Child - Early Adolescence
• Late Adolescence - Early Adult
• Mid-Late Adulthood

Birth, Infant and Toddler Stages

There is a longing that nags you off and on.  The restlessness and interrupted sleep only adds to the yearning.  There doesn't seem to be anyone close to you that truly understands what you're going through.  In fact, they've advise you to see a doctor.  No doubt you're going through the change.  Or you just need to get out more.  Or maybe try this new diet or that new diet.   You go to the doctor, they tell you there isn't anything physically wrong with you.  Or they tell you you just need to get more exercise and rest.  You go to a mental health specialist and they can't offer you any assistance that really rings true in your heart.  This is not to say these professionals aren't good at their jobs.*  No.  They're very good.  But they aren't getting it.  They're just not getting what's happening to you.  

Deep down you know it's more than hormones.  It's more than what's going around.  And  Yes, you're going through a change.  But not the kind modern medical science acknowledges.  You're not going crazy. You're not imagining any of it.    Get quiet, listen to your body.  Allow yourself to be guided by that inner knowing.    You're not alone.  Just remember that.  

When you are able to sleep you are bombarded by strange dreams.  Some of which look like a really bad science fiction movie.    It's okay!  You're not being haunted by ghosts or demons.  It's all part of the process.  There is so much you have taken in over the years.  The news reports, the every day experiences that leave you stressed and annoyed.  Your dreams are just a way for your mind to release and act out what it has taken in during your waking state.  Keep a journal.  Even if you can't remember the dream itself, write down the feelings the dream(s) left you with.  Don't forget to put the date down. It'll serve a purpose later on.

This is the birthing stage of your awakening process.   You will find your levels of discomfort shift from the subtle to extreme.  This of course adds to the now ever present irritation.  Remember to use whatever relaxation method that works for you on a daily basis.  The more relaxed you are...the quicker you can get through the various levels of the process.

The Infant and Toddler stages of your awakening process gets intense as your awareness grows.   During this particular level of awakening, you will find yourself acting out in ways you never dreamed.  Testing boundaries like an enraged two year old, you becoming demanding one minute and then shirking away the next.  Jealousy and possessiveness rears it's ugly head when you least expect it.  You don't want to share what you have or what you know.   Deep down you know it isn't polite or loving or kind.  But something in you just doesn't care.  It's yours and yours alone.  Let "them" get theirs and leave you be.    Sound familiar?    It's okay really!  We all go through this at one point during our awakening.  It does get better!  You do calm down!  

 Things that never bothered you now irritate you and you don't understand why.  You keep wondering if people were always that stupid and inconsiderate.  Once, not too long ago, it didn't bother you.  You ignored it.  Just let it slide.  But now...now it really annoys you.   You can no longer tolerate the insanity that you are now consciously aware of.   It's okay.  Your awareness is expanding and the adjustment is a bit unsettling in the beginning.  It does get better.

You throw a temper tantrum over things that make no sense to anyone. Not even to you.  You stay on line hoping to find others like you.  Sometimes you luck out and find online groups who are like you.  But that too is short-lived.   So you find yourself spending a lot of alone time.  Use this alone time to get to know YOU.  Keep a journal of your feelings.  Remember to date the entries.  This will help you see how far you have come later on.  

If you feel the need to rant, write your rant out and email it to yourself.  Or start a blog!  My rants are legendary.  Not to mention, comical!  Most importantly, they show me how far I have come.   So again, keep those journals!  You'll be glad you did!

Keep In Mind ...

This is not a race of any kind!  You will reach maturity in your own divine timing!

Every single person is where they are suppose to be ... when they are suppose to be ... at the exact moment they are suppose to be -- Doing and acting as they are suppose to be!

Whatever stage you find yourself in always remember to be Kind to Your SELF!

Conception & Gestation

It occurs when  you know  there is  more to life than what you see and experience in every day life.  It happens in that very moment you begin to question all you were taught and everything you once accepted as truth no longer feels right.  No longer feels true.    Try as you might, this  feeling doesn't go away.   In fact, the more you try to ignore it, push it aside, cover it up with various distractions, that feeling grows stronger. 

For those brought up in any kind of strict religious environment, this feeling can be most terrifying.  You find yourself caught between your loyalties to your beliefs and the ever growing feeling that propels you forward.    Out of love (and their own fears) those closest to you attempt to bring you back to your senses.   And despite and in spite of your own fears, you continue on.  Unsure of where it will all lead, unsure if in fact what you're feeling is real, you continue on.  Why?  Because something down deep says you must.  Though the fog of uncertainty is thick,  that  something deep down inside of you  prods you on.   It is a solitary nudge that develops into a twinkling of having to know what it is--whatever it may be prompts you to continue on despite, and yes in spite of,  all the fears that keep cropping up.

This is the conception of your spiritual awakening.

What happens next is very much like the beginning of a new life growing inside a mother's womb known as the gestation period.   During this time, the microscopic nucleus  now begins multiplying itself.    Your spiritual awakening is now Energetically growing from within, stretching your physical awareness to the brink of insanity.  The world around you, though familiar, takes on a strange new wonderful aliveness.  All around you is a curiosity.  Yet at the same time, you notice this odd detachment of old familiar places, things and yes, even people.  You begin to notice too that the people in your life are starting to avoid you and/or you them.    For some, their work no longer challenges them so they seek other employment, many times a job they've never considered before.  Conversations with  friends and  seem uninteresting to you now.  The little nudge that has been prodding you is now pushing you to seek out like minded individuals.  Prompting you to seek out that seemingly unattainable knowledge to feed an unquenchable thirst and satisfy your unending hunger.  

You start to notice a change in your physical body.  These changes come in many forms.  Food allergies is very common.  Nothing to worry about.  This is all part of the process.  Certain tones and volumes of particular sounds begin to bother you.  Nothing to be concerned about.  All part of the process!  

You will feel strong emotions one moment and in a flash you feel nothing at all.  Not to worry!  This too is all part of the process!

Whatever stage you find yourself in always remember to be Kind to Your SELF!

Stages of The Awakening Process: Part 1

 Your awakening process isn’t just about becoming consciously aware -- it's about growing up and maturing as well.    For many, this doesn’t always  go hand in hand.  

• There are those who believe that just being aware is enough.  It isn’t.    

• There are those who believe that if they repeat certain “catch phrases” this will magically and automatically turn them into a full grown and matured awaken individual.  It doesn’t.  

• There are those who believe that if they hold on to the ways and teachings of those that came before them … this too will make them more awake, more aware and make them  mature, complete and whole.  That is more than enough  It isn't.

These are only a small part of your spiritual maturity -- the first steps towards your spiritual growth, if you will. 

Your spiritual awakening is much like your physical growing process.  You have that moment of conception, followed by a  gestation period (for the most part nine months) followed by the birthing process.  From there you go from infant to toddler to young child to adolescent -- and as time passes you become an adult human experiencer.

    No part of this process can be skipped.

While a toddler  may immolate an adult … this still does not make him/her an adult … does it?  No, it does not.  Adolescents may think they are adults … and may very well behave and act in a more mature way than most adults … but the truth still remains … they are still adolescents!

 The stages of the Awakening parallels your human life during it's growing process in the exact same manner.   And like your human physical process … no steps can or will be skipped.

 Again, for emphasis -- keep in mind that your awakening process parallels your physical stages of life and all that goes along with it. 

• Conception
• Gestation
• Birth
• Infant - Toddler
• Young Child - Early Adolescence
• Late Adolescence - Early Adult
• Mid-Late Adulthood

Special Note

Please keep in mind that each stage of development is very important.  Though it may be frustrating for yourself and others, each stage must be worked through in order to gain the necessary foundation of your maturity.

You will find yourself annoyed by many whom you have out grown and as a result will find it necessary to cut them out of your life at some point of your awakening.

This is all part of the process.

For those of you who find yourself on the receiving end of being let go, don't take it personally.   Those who let you go have matured faster. This doesn't mean there is anything wrong with you.   It simply means you are going at your own individual pace.   There is nothing wrong with that.  There is nothing wrong with you.  Everyone goes at their own pace.

BILL HAS GONE AND DONE IT AGAIN...

They're standing on the corner and they can't speak English. 

I can't even talk the way these people talk: 

Why you ain't,
Where you is,
What he drive,
Where he stay,
Where he work,
Who you be... 

And I blamed the kid until I heard the mother talk.     And then I heard the father talk. 

Everybody knows it's important to speak English except these knuckleheads. You can't be a doctor with that kind of crap coming out of your mouth.  In fact you will never get any kind of job making a decent living.

People marched and were hit in the face with rocks to get an Education, and now we've got these knuckleheads walking around. 

The lower economic people are not holding up their end in this deal. 

These people are not parenting. They are buying things for kids.   $500 sneakers for what?
And they won't spend $200 for Hooked on Phonics?

I am talking about these people who cry when their son is standing there in an orange suit. 

Where were you when he was 2?
Where were you when he was 12?
Where were you when he was 18 and how come you didn't know that he had a pistol?
And where is the father? Or who is his father? 

People putting their clothes on backward: Isn't that a sign of something gone wrong? 

People with their hats on backward, pants down around the crack, isn't that a sign of something?

Isn't it a sign of something when she has her dress all the way up and got all type of needles [piercing] going through her body? 

What part of Africa did this come from??   We are not Africans. Those people are not Africans; they don't know a thing about Africa.  

I say this all of the time. It would be like white people saying they are European-American. That is totally stupid. 

I was born here, and so were my parents and grand parents and, very likely my great grandparents. I don't have any connection to Africa, no more than white Americans have to Germany , Scotland , England , Ireland , or the Netherlands . The same applies to 99 percent of all the black Americans as regards to Africa . So stop, already! ! !  With names like Shaniqua, Taliqua and Mohammed and all of that crap. And all of them are in jail.

Brown or black versus the Board of Education is no longer the white person's problem.
We have got to take the neighborhood back. 

People used to be ashamed. Today a woman has eight children with eight different 'husbands' -- or men or whatever you call them now. 

We have millionaire football players who cannot read. 

We have million-dollar basketball players who can't write two paragraphs. 

We, as black folks have to do a better job. 

Someone working at Wal-Mart with seven kids, you are hurting us. 

We have to start holding each other to a higher standard..

We cannot blame the white people any longer.

The Awakening Process

 Your awakening process isn’t just about becoming consciously aware -- it's about growing up and maturing as well.    For many, this doesn’t always  go hand in hand.

Your spiritual awakening is much like your physical growing process.  You have that moment of conception, followed by a  gestation period (for the most part nine months) followed by the birthing process.  From there you go from infant to toddler to young child to adolescent -- and as time passes you become an adult human experiencer.      



    No part of this process can be skipped.



While a toddler  may immolate an adult … this still doesn’t make him/her an adult … does it?  No, it does not.  Adolescents may think they are adults … and may very well behave and act in a more mature way than most adults … but the truth still remains … they are still adolescents! 



 The stages of the Awakening parallels your human life during it's growing process in the exact same manner.   And like your human physical process … no steps can or will be skipped.



 Again, for emphasis -- keep in mind that your awakening process parallels your physical stages of life and all that goes along with it. 

• Conception
• Gestation
• Birth
• Infant - Toddler
• Young Child - Early Adolescence
• Late Adolescence - Early Adult
• Mid-Late Adulthood

In the following posts, we will be sharing information on the various stages of spiritually maturing.

Special Note

Please keep in mind that each stage of development is very important.  Though it may be frustrating for yourself and others, each stage must be worked through in order to gain the necessary foundation of your maturity.



You will find yourself annoyed by many whom you have out grown, and as a result will find it necessary to cut out of your life at some point of your awakening.



This is all part of the process.



For those of you who find yourself on the receiving end of being let go, don't take it personally.   Those who let you go have matured faster. This doesn't mean there is anything wrong with you.   It simply means you are going at your own individual pace.   There is nothing wrong with that.  There is nothing wrong with you.  Everyone goes at their own pace.





Keep In Mind ...



This is not a race of any kind!  You will reach maturity in your own divine timing!

Every single person is where they are suppose to be ... when they are suppose to be ... at the exact moment they are suppose to be -- Doing and acting as they are suppose to be!

Embracing All That You Are: Part 1

Many have been asking me what I mean when I say ... Embrace All That You Are!

Simply put ... all your emotions, all that you have been, all you have done, thought and acted upon ...  all that you are in this moment ... right now .... is who you were, who you are--  is what lead you to be who you are in this moment.

Good, Bad, indifferent or downright fugly -- it is, was and continues to be ... YOU!

Embrace It!  

Anger, Ambition, Sadness, Jealously, Hatred, Anxiety, Ignorance, Bigotry ...

They are all part of the great creative energies!  The same exact Creative Energies that created ALL things and ALL beings!

Acknowledge it! Accept it!  Love it!  Embrace It!

You cannot destroy energy!  You cannot suppress it!  For in your attempts at doing so, you will only succeed in it becoming stronger!

These emotions -- these energies -- are not separate from Love as many have been taught and so many more believe.   Quite the contrary!  They are every part of the energies we call Love as our very being is! 

You are not being asked, told or required to succumb to these particular energies.  You are being asked to release them in an appropriate and more proper manner.

The more you love and show gratitude ... the stronger and higher your vibrations become.   These energies of anger, jealously, hatred, ignorance and bigotry (along with many other like vibrational energies) cannot withstand the intense vibrations of Love and Gratitude.  They will literally fall away.

But!  Try and push them aside or suppress them ... they will cling to you even more.

These energies we have labeled as negative are our greatest teachers!  They are merely asking (and in some instances ... demanding) recognition!  Recognition that you have learned whatever lessons they have brought you.  In addition to acknowledging its presence, these energies require our unconditional love, acceptance and gratitude before departing.   The next step is to simply ask it ... "do you want to leave?"  And then granting it your unconditional permission to do so!

Yes my loves -- this is how you work with all that you deem "negative."    By Recognizing it for what it truly is!  Following with Acknowledging it!   Accepting it!  Loving it, Being grateful for it and then giving it permission to leave.

This is what I mean when I say .... Embrace All that You Are!  Because YOU are all that there is!

And we are!  We are ALL energies! 

When you deny one aspect of your Self in favor of another -- you deny your Self the Wholeness of your very Being!~ Antari

You cannot suppress any of it without consequences!  It will keep returning to you until you have Recognized the lessons it brings; Acknowledged its importance to you; Accept it for what it is; Bless it by expressing unconditional Love and Gratitude; then giving it permission to Leave!

By doing so you have acted upon Embracing All That You Are!   And allowing only the higher frequencies of Love to shine through!

So Embrace ALL that you are!  Because YOU ... are ALL that there Is!

It's All About Y.O.U.!

One of the many things I have had to acknowledge and accept is that we are all spirit beings having a human experience.

Let me repeat that ... We are All Spirit Beings Having A Human Experience!

While it may not be so tough to acknowledge this ... it is exceptionally difficult to accept it!  At least it is for me!  And from what I have observed over the last 40 plus years ...the majority of people here on Planet Earth find it equally difficult.

With all the discussions, books, seminars and workshops going on these days, you would think that we would be alot happier and alot more enlightened.  Speaking of which ... Have you ever wondered why you can't find any truly enlightened people? 

Yea you can find a shit load of empowered and spiritually evolved people.  But where are all the truly enlightened folks hiding?

Seriously ... where are they? 

Well this was the question posed to me during a conversation I had with my friend Mellen-Thomas Benedict one day.

Mellen-Thomas has a way about him.  (You can find out more about Mellen-Thomas by going to his website at www.mellen-thomas.com). Anyways, Mellen-Thomas is one of the most genuinely loving and kindest men I have the privilege knowing.  But his question really bugged me.

Where are all the enlightened people?

 What do you mean I ain't enlightened pal????  After I thought about it though I realized how very right he is!  Well Shit Fire! 

You know ... nothing pisses me off more than finding out something else I have to work on!  Crap!

So this leads me back to what I originally stated ... We are ALL Spirit Beings having a Human experience!

Yea many of us know that!  But how many of us are actually practicing what we know in this regard?  I'll be the first to honestly state ... I'm not! I don't!  Not on a regular basis.

Yes!  Like many of  you... I pick and choose when to actually practice what I truly believe!  And usually, most often than not, only when it suits me and when it is convenient.

Well CRAP!  Thanks Mellen!  Thanks for reminding me how far I come and how much further I need to go! 

Don't know whether to hug and kiss the guy or kick his ass and duct tape him to a cactus out in the middle of the desert!  oy!


The one thing I do know is ...  Not being truly enlightened doesn't make us hypocrites.  No, just makes us work a little harder to remember and keep in mind the principals we readily spout off but rarely actually live by.

And of course, remembering that Old habits are really and truly hard to break!  Keep in mind folks, we've been practicing the bad habits a LONG time!

So how does one achieve true enlightenment while going through the human experience? Well, I asked my spirit companion, Antari this very question. 

He stated, in order to become truly enlightened, one most do away with the idea of being better or less than another. 

Scratching my head, I asked him for clarification on this. 

To which he replied, as you are well aware of Beloved, many are under the belief that they are either better or they are less than another. This is clearly seen on a regular basis through various venues. 

Human experiencers are constantly comparing themselves to someone outside themselves. This comparison is usually done unconsciously you see. And through these comparisons, judgments are made. And most often than not, these judgments are usually harsh and cruel.
 
These judgments either are based on being better or being less than those they are comparing themselves to.

Comparisons, when left uncheck, creates an unhealthy outlook on life. It creates and perpetuates strife and hardships. It provides a continuous flow of anger. Anger leads to hatred, hatred leads to conflict, conflict leads to destruction.

While there are those with more experience, more knowledge and more insights, the truth of the matter is this … no one human experiencer is better or lesser than the other. All have something to contribute. And all contributions are worthy of consideration.

Thank you Yoda … I mean Antari.  *lol*    So I asked (yes, I'm a glutton for punishment!) How does one put an end to this perpetuation of comparison?

Antari replied, by remembering Y.O.U.
 
Y.O.U.? 

Yes, Beloved. Y.O.U. --- Your Own Understanding.   You see Beloved, it is not about the other person, but it is about Y.O.U! It is, and has always been, about Your Own Understanding.    If you are faced with a challenge, then it is Y.O.U. that is in need of re-evaluating. If you desire change, then it is Y.O.U that will have to change! It is not about someone else. It is about Y.O.U!

Acceptance without comparison. This comes about when Y.O.U have met the challenges and subsequently worked through them to your soul's satisfaction.   Living by example, not by force. If you have an idea, then live it. By being the example, others of like mind will join you on your idea, adding their own uniqueness to the collective. There is no need for force. And there is certainly is no need for judgment.

And how do we achieve this understanding? 

Beloved you achieve this understanding by keeping in mind that each of you here on planet earth are Spirit Beings Having A Human Experience. That each of you came here with a unique purpose. Each have a Y.O.U to work on and to work through.    And too, by remembering, with out one another, the entire experience would be dreadfully dull!
